Community Support

crossroads_blocks

Together we can break the cycles of poverty bringing hope to the communities we serve.

We help build thriving communities by providing clean water, food, clothes and seasonal medical clinics. We offer business training programs to create pathways out of poverty, and partner with local businesses to expand the impact.

Hope Centre

The Crossroads Hope Centre is a multipurpose facility that supports the Ekwazeni community.

It is a haven for orphaned and vulnerable children to receive safe shelter, food, clothing, education assistance and medical care.

The Centre also offers valuable services to community members including: meals, counselling, medical care, training workshops and resources for long-term sustainable living.

Medical Clinics

Since 1994, Crossroads has conducted over 85 medical outreach projects in partnership with local churches and government agencies. Acting as a catalyst for change, we work to enhance the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of individuals.

We assemble doctors, nurses, dentists, optometrists and other medical professionals from around the world who volunteer their skills to benefit those who cannot afford, nor have access to, medical help. Patients receive free exams, medications and vitamin supplements, eyeglasses, nutritious meals and counselling.

Business Training

Relief efforts are essential in the short term, but job creation and employment are vital long term. Crossroads’ micro-development projects allow people to lift themselves out of poverty, improve their standard of living and provide for their families.

Crossroads provides poverty-alleviating initiatives that are conceived, designed and implemented by local Africans, including: chicken farming, sewing, brick-making and baking. These grassroots development projects create sustainability within communities, fostering a habit of a “hand up” versus a “hand out.”

Partnerships

Crossroads works in close partnership with South African police services, the Department of Health and the Department of Social Services South Africa, corporations, medical professionals and other community leaders.

By building these relationships, we are able to evaluate the needs of the community and work together to find solutions. This creates a wider, more sustainable impact in the areas we serve.
